Chicken and Dumplings

Nothing says comfort like a bowl of Chicken and Dumplings. The fluffy dumplings, tender chicken, and creamy broth make this dish the ultimate cozy fall meal. Let the crockpot slowly cook the chicken and veggies while the dumplings simmer to perfection.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 4 cups chicken broth

  • 2 carrots, chopped

  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 cup frozen peas

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into quarters

Instructions:

  1. Add Ingredients to Crockpot
Place the chicken, broth, carrots, celery, onion, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the crockpot. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours until the chicken is cooked through.

  2. Shred Chicken
Remove the chicken, shred with a fork, and return to the pot.

  3. Add Dumplings
Stir in the heavy cream and peas. Drop the biscuit dough quarters on top and cook for another 1 hour until the dumplings are fluffy and cooked through.
